About Home Recording Book

Updated

Home Recording Book is a free guide to recording at home: vocals, podcasts, guitar, and full bands, in a bedroom, a closet, or a spare room. It has 130 pages of guides, gear roundups, and straight answers, plus a free acoustic panel calculator.

The goal is simple. Help you get a good recording out of the room and the gear you have, and skip the mistakes that cost money: buying gear before fixing the room, mixing up treatment and soundproofing, and chasing specs that won't change how your takes sound.

What's here

Every page sits under one of these topics. Each hub links to everything in its topic.

Short questions get short answers in the home recording FAQ.

Where the facts come from

Specs, prices, and technical claims come from the people who make the gear and the people who set the standards: manufacturer manuals, spec sheets and support pages, standards bodies, government agencies, universities, and published research. Each one is linked in the sentence that makes the claim, so you can check it yourself.

We don't cite forums, retailers, affiliate review sites, or other recording blogs. The full rules are in the editorial policy.

No pretend testing

No page on this site claims a test, a measurement, or a recording session that didn't happen. Where a page gives an opinion, such as which DAW is easier to learn, it reads as an opinion. If we add our own recordings or measurements later, they'll be labeled as ours.

How the site is paid for

Right now it isn't. There are no ads, no affiliate links, no sponsored posts, and no product links to retailers. Gear links go to the maker's own page. If that ever changes, the editorial policy will say so first.
